Aster Web Data / Connect your data
Databases
The supported databases compared, with Commercial editions marked.
Start with the database that already holds your data. Aster Web Data reads and writes it in its own SQL, and each database's page gives the SQL, the type mappings, the collation and the limits. PostgreSQL and MariaDB are servers the service connects to over the network. SQLite and DuckDB are files the service opens inside its own process, so there is no database server to run; Get started uses SQLite.

Reads across databases means one request can return rows from two databases on the same service, for example a customer from PostgreSQL with its orders from MariaDB. See Reads across databases.
Where a database runs an operation, its own comparison, collation and arithmetic give the answer; Comparison and arithmetic rules compares them across the databases.
TigerBeetle
TigerBeetle is different from the others. It is a ledger with a fixed catalog of two sets, Accounts and Transfers, and it does not run SQL. Read its page before you model data on it.
